Hikes in France
Walk 1 Col des Montets – Lac Blanc – Flégère – Chamonix 5 – 6 hours hiking
With a short drive in our minivan we reach the departure point of the hike. The Lac Blanc is probably the most beautiful lake in the valley. Located high up in the natural reserve of the Aiguille Rouges we will find this tiny and ice cold glacier lake. From the Col du Montets there are two paths going up to the Lac Blanc. We can take the hiking path which zig-zags up to the Téte du Vent . From there we will pass by the Lacs de Chéserys and get up to the Lac Blanc and its refuge. A gentle path takes us down to Flégère from where we can walk down directly to Chamonix. During our hike we will get rewarded by the best views on the Mont Blanc and if we are lucky we can spot some Ibex, Chamois and Marmots on our way.
Distance: 8.2 Kilometers Height gain / Height loss / Highest point: 540 meters / 984 meters / Lac Blanc 2357m
Walk 2 Chamonix – Aiguille du Midi – Montenvers 5 hours hiking
A ride with the cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi (3842 meters above sea level) is one of the highlights of this trip and it provides stunning and unique views on the glaciers and the snowy mountain peaks. In the afternoon, you will see the Montenvers / Mer du Glace (sea of ice) with the biggest glacier of France. A nice hike in between makes this to a perfect and great day.
On the top you can admire the great views over the highest peaks of Europe and of course you can see the Mont Blanc as close as never before. Your guide can tell you many stories about climbers and all the mountains. After taking pictures you will visit the mountaineering museum where you guide will give you a short introduction in all the different activities which can be done in the mountains. You will finish your visit on the Aiguille du Midi with a visit in the step into the void, a glass cabin with a 1000m drop below you. After this adrenaline rush you will take the cable car back to the mid-station to the Plan d’Aiguille. From there a great hike is waiting for you. A beautiful hiking path traverses just below the sheer north face of the Aiguille du Midi over towards Montenvers. Along the way, you will have a great view on the opposite site (Aiguilles Rouges and Lac Blanc) where you can see where you have been the day before. After lunch, you will follow the great path for a little bit longer before you reach Montenvers and the Mer de Glace. The stunning views on the glacier and the surrounding peaks are just breath-taking. A small cable car gives access to a glacier cave. You can take the cable car and walk down 420 steps to reach a real ice cave in the glacier. (Additional cable car-fee)
Distance: 11.6 Kilometers Height gain / Height loss / Highest point: 142 meters / 1405 meter / Aiguille du Midi 3842 m
Walk 3 Aiguillette des Houches – Brévent – Chamonix 8 – 10 hours hiking
We begin from The Aiguillette des Houches offering a great view over the entire Mont Blanc range and gives even better views over the neighboring mountain ranges. The ascent to the peak is nice through a forest. About half-way up the trail follows a nice ridgeline to the top of the Aiguillette des Houches. Massive glaciers and big peaks are just a few hundreds meters away. From the top you’ll hike along the so called grand balcon sud (great southern balcony) with amazing views over the whole Mont Blanc valley. From there you’ll hike up to Brévent, a peak high above Chamonix. From the peak you’ll take the long descent down to Chamonix.
Distance 17 Km Height gain / Height loss / Highest point: 1278 meters / 1584 meters / Brévent 2525m
Hike in Italy:
Walk 4 Courmayeur – Ref. Bertone – Ref. Bonatti – Chalet Val Ferret Hiking 7 hours
A classic route on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc range. Starting at Courmayeur we take the steep but nice path through the forest to the Bertone refuge. Once we reach the hut we will have a stunning view on the mountains towards Aosta and on the full Mont Blanc massif. The hut itself is a great spot to stop for some Italian coffee. From the hut we continue along the scenic traverse towards the Bonatti refuge. The path is now very mellow and very enjoyable. In the Bonatti refuge we can stop for some real Italian lunch. After a good break we continue the traverse high up the Italian Val Ferret towards the Elena refuge, onto the Chalet Val Ferret and the valley ground with a ride back to Chamonix.
Distance: 16.0 Km Height gain / Height loss / Highest point: 1171 meters / 612 meters / Léchére (2115m)
Walk 5 Courmayeur – Cabane du Combal – Maison Vieille – Courmayeur Hiking 7 Hours
Another nice route along the Val Veny up towards the Italo-French border. A nice coffee stop in a typical Italian mountain hut makes you ready for the climb up to one of the best viewpoints of the entire Italian side of the Mountain. A nice and flowy descent is following towards Courmayeur. For those who are not afraid, many ice-cold mountain lakes are waiting for a swim! After you arrive in Courmayeur there will be some time to check out the village or even to go for a early pizza dinner.
Distance 17 km Height gain / Height loss / Highest point: 847 meters / 1293 meters / Viewpoint (2420m)

On our hike over the Aiguillette de Possettes we will get rewarded with stunning views on the whole Chamonix valley.
