Hiya so here is a great invite for a fabulous walking holiday but with creature comforts as I know you lovely guests prefer.  A group of fun walkers and I went out to do this tour last September and a second visit in June, so I want to make it a regular destination for a great weekend.

Introduction

‘One of France’s most recognisable landmarks; Mont Saint Michel and its bay are part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and more than 3 million people visit it each year.

The island held strategic fortifications since ancient times and since the 8th Century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. Its unique position of being an island only 600 metres from land made it readily accessible at low tide to the many ‘pilgrims’ to its abbey. Equally this position made it readily defensible as an incoming tide stranded, drove off or drown would be assailants’.

So if you choose to take the ‘quick sand’ risky route of life rather than the easy road then come along on this long weekend tour. It's July so the sun should be shining and the French wine flowing. The Parisians come to enjoy their holidays here so you get a true French feeling with delicious mussels served in all the local restaurants. I absolutely adore this long weekend and I am sure you will love it too. Diane

Day 1 Thursday Arrival and getting to know everyone and the local area with an evening meal

Day 2 Friday We will visit the St Mont Michel Cathedral. This is a delight in itself and you will be requested to select if you wish to do the infamous pilgrim sand walk with a local English speaking Guide at time nearer the date..The Cathedral stands on a beautiful island with lovely shops and great restaurants so lots to do there. There is a cost of appx 7 Euros to enter the Abbey. Well worth it.

Day 3 Saturday We will be walking the Emerald Coast which is a delightful cultural walk along the Dinard coastline. (Approx. 8 miles woodland path). We pass through a second world war time historical museum and remembrance area.  Lots of time for refreshments, a picnic and even a swim along the way. At the end of the walk we enjoy free time in Dinard then an evening meal.

Day 4 Sunday Offers time for a lazy breakfast, with time to venture into St Malo for a walk around the fortified walls, a swim in the lido or a wander around the shops and cafes.

Day 5 Monday Optional* Visit to Dinan, without doubt one of the most attractive and best preserved small towns in Brittany. With its 1.8 mile (3km)-long ramparts, half-timbered houses, attractive port and cobbled streets filled. Sailing by boat with departure from Saint-Malo  passing by the Tour Solidor and the Bizeux Rock (a statue of the Virgin Mary). Next, a crossing of the lock of the Barrage de la Rance. Returning via local bus or coach. This is a whole day tour and we will enjoy lunch on the river bank-bliss!

Day 6 Tuesday Fairwells, Au Revior and departure to airport and home.

The total cost of £429 includes Hotel bed and breakfast, airport transfers, tour to st Mont Michael, and the Emerald Coast walk. You can buy your own picnic and snacks at a local supermarket to suit your taste. The price is for a twin room and single supplement charges do apply. (£100)

NOTE: Airport transfer provided if from agreed flights as taxi or mini bus is the only way to reach St Malo and can be pricey so best to try to arrive together.
